Pdf Summary
The Emerging L.E.A.D.ership Program (March–October 2026) is designed to support new or emerging leaders in housing and community development through six sessions—two in-person and four virtual—focused on strengthening supervisory skills and team management. Instructors Sunny Shaw and Darlene Kelly from NAHRO guide participants through key areas including effective supervision, coaching, goal setting, employee development, and leadership across different organizational levels.

The program requires completion of two leadership assessments (DISC and Clifton Strengths) before starting. Full attendance across all sessions is mandatory, including live participation in at least three virtual sessions. Participants must complete assigned homework and leadership pod activities between sessions to apply learned concepts practically.

The curriculum begins with self-discovery in Session 1 ("Who Am I?") using assessment results to explore personal values, brand, and emotional intelligence. Sessions progress into personnel management and HR fundamentals, building and supporting successful teams, setting goals and achieving results, and leadership dynamics with supervisors, peers, and direct reports.

Assignments include developing a personal brand statement, exploring organizational culture, and drafting a final business case project. The final capstone involves presenting a business case to a panel of industry experts at Session 6 (in-person in Denver). This graduation session also offers networking with NAHRO leaders and opportunities for mentorship.

Participants receive materials electronically and printed workbooks at the first session. The program emphasizes accountability, with a clear process for managing incomplete homework, and policies for refunds and registration changes.

Overall, the L.E.A.D.ership Program offers emerging leaders a comprehensive, interactive learning journey combining assessment, practical assignments, expert insights, and peer collaboration to develop leadership skills vital for advancing in housing and community development roles.
